About the event
This workshop is designed for anyone that has an interest in running, whether you run a couple of miles a week or several marathons a year!
The most common question we get asked is "how do I reduce my chance of getting injured?" Myself and Danny Clayton, a Sports Therapist for over a decade, have designed this workshop to answer that exact question, as well as give you the tools to allow you to do what you love for longer as you age.
The workshop will begin with a Pilates class focusing on core strength and mobility. The main focus will be on correct form and alignment allowing you to learn about your own body imbalances, which will prevent injuries in the future. Pilates will help improve your breathing and will allow you to enjoy running for longer throughout your life. After the class, there will be a short break for a drink and a tasty snack. The final part of the workshop will be a talk lead by Danny Clayton. You will learn the key components of strength and conditioning training specifically aimed at running. Appreciate the importance of why, as runners, you should strength train and you will have access to a repertoire of equipment free body weight exercises . These exercises are designed to keep you doing what you love, improve your endurance, speed and reduce your risk of injury. You will learn to understand how strength and conditioning can fit into your weekly program and bust some myths about some common training concepts that you don't need to spend your time and money on.
We're excited to share our knowledge with you.
